UNDATED WASHINGTON DOUBLE HEAD CENT NGC AU-55 This is a bad picture but tell me why this is already gradded by NGC AU-55, here is a PCGS AU-55... Why would the NGC look so different? What do you think each is worth?
The difference in the photos could be due to a variety of things. Lighting, equipment, computer editing software, not to mention the actual differenes in the two coins. Copper coins can vary in darkness, and have the same amount of wear. Others will be along to comment. It may take some time, so be patient.
well there both already graded, i need to know your opinion of grade... But i guess that makes since, it is AU-55"RB"....
Your Washington Token appears to be "Almost Uncirculated", to me. It's tough to grade "coins" by a single picture of only one side. I also find it hard to split hairs between 50, 53, 55 and 58. The number grading system doesn't work well for me.
Color really doesn't have a determination on grade until you get above MS-67 I believe. I have a beautiful MS-65 Lincoln Cent, it has a chance at a 66, that is almost entirely brown. It just has a little red peeking out above Lincoln's head. The first coin could be bright blue, but if it has the right amount of wear, it can be a 55. As for value, I have no idea to be honest with you, lol. But the second coin looks to be a real eye catcher. :thumb: Phoenix
thats the thing there both gradded AU-55... The nicer one is just PCGS AU-55. the first one is NGC AU-55BN $$$$?????
Apparently you need to learn much about how grading works. The difference between these two is not the grade - but why they were each graded what they were, and there are different reasons for each. Yes the PCGS coin has a bit more eye appeal and that is what holds its grade up. It has several bad hits in prime focal areas that would lower the grade to at least 50 were it not for the exceptional eye appeal. The NGC coin is actually in better condition, but suffers in eye appeal.
It's hard to grade the top token from the bad pics , The PCGS coin is an eyecatcher alright , the coins are different color but could be the same grade . rzage
Posting this after only 26 minutes? Patience is a virtue.... Not everybody is sitting around online all day to immediately answer your questions. This seems to be a regular habit of yours.
This seems to be a repeating issue with him. But that's OK, he's new. You're right though. We aren't online all day. When I ask a question I'm not surprised if it takes a whole day before I get some responses. Sometimes it happens fast, but other times it doesn't.
That's only ONE of his nuances. He called me names when I suggested that his raw Draped Bust Dollar that he got for at "steal" may be a counterfeit. This after asking us for our opinions of his coin (with VERY poor photos, mind you). He seems to be VERY immature. Perhaps he is only a kid. Who knows? He certainly is building a reputation around here. 'Nuff said.
Lightened it up a little. IMO AU55. Wear on high points,(laurel) I agree with GD on the eye appeal. The NGC coin looks splotchy when it is lightened. I liked it better dark..............John
Don't take this the wrong way, but you are asking a question that does not make a lot of sense given the coin you are showing. This is a coin only usually found in the collection of an advanced collector. The only reason I point this out is because and advanced collector would know how to find the value of a coin without asking. Is this another piece that you inherited similar to that ultra rare pattern that you are sending to PCGS? OK, enough prying. The answer to your question is anywhere from $750-$1,000 depending on the eye appeal of the coin. You should really at the very least consider buying a redbook. Numismedia now posts the Numismedia Wholesale values including MS prices online for free. Additionally, you can sign up free at Heritage and the access their permanent auction archives which will give you the current prices of any coin you want. The best part, no waiting!
This is really a wonderful resource. I use that website almost everyday as a resource, either to price something...or drool. I have never even bought anything off there before, but I still use it because it is such a great source of information.
