Just using this one as an example so you can illustrate how you grade these. What are the high points where you can first expect to detect evidence of wear, and where, specifically, is the wear on this coin (if you can circle it instead of just describing it, so much the better). Also, any other nuances specific to this series I should be concerned about in trying to grade these. Red Book just doesn't say anything on that. Thanks.
Eddie when grading these this is the first areas of concern for the first signs of wear . I circled it in red I collect kennedys and i do grade my own. i hope this helps you a little my friend. Jazzcoins joe:high5:
Wow, That might be the best training photo I have ever seen. It is an AU53 coin with the high points clearly visibly worn. (no need to circle them). The discoloration from wear on the hair, cheek, and neck smack you in the face. I see some wear in the field as well. These coins are not really collectible below the AU grades, but this should do very well to help Kennedy collectors identify an AU vs BU. Thanks for posting!
Excellent, Joe, mucho thx! I want to know where you first look for the signs (thx for the circles!). Lehigh, you too, great...thx for the tips! I learned primarily from Doug and some of you others how wear traditionally shows up in photos, and I can see where a lot of that is on this coin, specifically. AU53, huh? That's pretty nice, I'll take it. Just trying to learn in this thread, guys. Thx! :thumb:
