Well I must have my time set wrong - or you do, because I don't think it's Wed. "yet".

The best way to ship a coin would be Insured mail, of course. There are all kinds of small mailers that have bubble wrap inside. Saw some at coinworld.com earlier specifically for mailing - altho their prices weren't "all that" on some of the other items. You can probably find some on eBay too.

    Good luck! :)

I think MbBiker is right. Mine is wrong too. I don't know how many hours away I am from GMT, and I'll have to guess until I get it right. Now if only I could do that in real life and set the clock ahead to Friday afternoon whenever I wanted!

It took me a few tries to get it right but it's real easy to see if you got it right just post somthing and compare the posted time to the clock on your computer.

 So many choices! I have no clue what to change it to and don't feel like trying every one of them.

If anyone has a clue which one CST is, please PM me, or email txrok@aol.com.

    thankie! 8)

GMT - 8 is Pacific time. I guess GMT - 7 would be Central time.

As to shipping I put the coin in a cardboard "saf-t-mailer" then put that into a bubble wrap padded envelope. Then ship 1'st class insured. Unless the value is very high when I'll go registered.

Thanks everyone - you are right Carl - CST is GMT - 7.

Back to the question now of shipping - I just read on another forum that Fedex, UPS and Airborne don't insure coins, so guess it would be best to go with USPS. However, I think I remember that USPS doesn't insure money either. Maybe after you research this and find a good answer you can let us all know. :)

Don't use the Titanic or the Queen Elizabeth II as the cost would be prohibitive. Loose coins unless they are worthless I place in 2X2's and then in a folded envelope then a padded security envelope and unless there is a lot of weight usually costs less than a buck to send anywgere in USA.

I make my own safety envelope inserts.

    1. Cut a piece of light weight corrugated cardboard slightly smaller than envelope size.
    2. With a razor, Xacto knife, etc., cut out a square slightly smaller than the coin's diameter (or exactly the size of a cardboard/mylar 2x2) from one side of the card.
    3. Carefully remove the corrugations in the exposed area.
    4. Gently press the coin/2x2 into the hole.
    5. Position the square of cardboard you removed in step 1 over the coin and secure it with Scotch tape.
    6. Put the insert in an envelope, address, add appropriate postage (including insurance/other special charges if necessary, and deposit in the mail or deliver to a postal employee.

This method can be used for low value non-gold/silver coins, or 2x2s holding any type of coin. ;)
