Hey all - I bought a scale to weigh my silver eagles. I figured it was a good idea to try to prevent me from buying fake crap. Anyway, this scale seems to be a POS made in China. All of my ASEs weigh different weights! This includes ones that I know came directly from the mint. Supposedly, they're supposed to weigh either 31.101 or 31.103 grams each. I guess that nobody (including the US Mint) is perfect and the weights of each coin may I was wondering if anyone could suggest a very accurate scale, or otherwise give some advice to me. I'm pretty sure that I do not have any fakes (due to the "ring" test), but I'd like to be as close to 100% sure as possible without sending them all to PCGS for grading in those nifty rolls :goofer: Thanks for your advice!
Ruben it doesn't matter if the ASE weighs 1% more or 1% less than the spec weight - it still cost the same when you buy it or you sell it. Every single one of the coins has the exact same value. Yes, I mean + or - 1%.
