I have a 1944 penny that appears to have waves or ripples. It doesn't look damaged it looks minted that way i could be wrong though. Any info or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Its just weird because for one ive never seen anything like this and for too it doesn't look damaged.do you have any idea what acidic solution would do this? And how does a wavy or rippled coin look compared to this?? I appreciate the help
I come across them every once in awhile during my searches. I have no clue what kind of acid will do it but there have been numerous posts about coins that look like yours and the consensus is that it was in some sort of acid bath. I'm sure someone who has experimented with this or dealt with it more in the past will be along and give you a better answer than me haha.
If you look closely at the reverse of the OP's coin, I see a ghost of the words ONE CENT to the north and west. What is that? @furryfrog02 @paddyman98 @Inspector43
@paddyman98 can explain it better than I. But it is related to the jitterbug that a whizzing will do. Mechanical doubling. I have one that looks like tripling.
It does look like PSD. On a side note, you may not want to use your driver's license as a background. You never know what people will do with someone's private information.
