"Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer" by James L. Swanson is worth a look.. Lots of research done that is not to be found in one place. Don't misunderstand the Author's desire.. it is NOT to elevate Booth.
Thanks I forgot about that. Really do not have any commemorative coin. I did have the bald eagle but a lady I know liked it and ask me to order one for her so she could give it to her husband for his birthday. I let her have mine since was unsure if I could get it in time. Never replaced it. Still I will order several of these.
I like that perspective... from below looking up. It gives him a paternal, fatherly look... much like a kid looking up at his dad. I tell you what... for years, the only time I saw the Lincoln Memorial was on the back of a coin. When I visited the real thing, I was blown away. It was late at night. It was cold. My brother and I were the only ones there. Washington DC is an amazing town with much to see. For me, the Lincoln Memorial was the most powerful experience of them all. It's thirty years later, and I'm getting goosebumps right now.
Good for you. I've never been there but it gives me GB's too just looking at closeups. Maybe someday.......... zg
Ya know, I just got off a 16-day whitewater run through the Grand Canyon. This is gonna sound crazy, but I would compare the Lincoln Memorial to the Grand Canyon in the following respects : 1) It's not that much different from some other things, but it's so much better because it's so much bigger. Both have an amazing sense of awe due to their scope. True grandeur. 2) The quiet brings a sense of reverence. It expands the spirit and the soul.
