Good morning, I am trying to pin down the variety of this 1890 Seated fine that is on its way to me from a recent auction. It will arrive on Monday at which point I will post better photos though the ones I have are pretty good. Anyway, I’ve spent a fair amount of time on Gerry Fortin’s site seateddimevarieties.com and can’t seem to find a match. The date is slanted, the denticle placement is 0 and there are considerable die cracks on the reverse. Any help would be appreciated!
That is a MPD variety as you can see the tops of the digits are in the denticals. Check mapping of die cracks, as well by die state. Nice coin
I’m not seeing the digits in the denticals. I checked the MPD variety listing and couldn’t make a match.
...I’m not seeing any part of the design near the denticles either. @Paddy54 ...please elucidate...also explain MPD and the listing for it (source)...thanks...Spark
And because it doesnt match doesnt mean its not a new discovery. Die cracks can be different die state.
