Only R-3, but previously owned by Al Overton and plated in editions 2-5 of his book on die marriages.
Not a new purchase but I did have it graded. Expected a 69, got a 69. I just wanted it in hard plastic for protection.
PCGS called her AU details--questionable color. I disagree, but then what do I know??? other than she has had the same toning pattern since 1970.
Both of these received just yesterday. I don't normally purchase early (pre-1834) gold in the XF range, but I like the look of this one... just the right amount of luster and crust for the grade. The bill is also recently acquired window dressing.
@Ike Skywalker, Yes it was about the label. I almost didn't post it, but what the heck we all make mistakes. There are 2 other coins I bought for the label. A 911 ASE and a baseball HOF signed by Steve Carlton.
Nothing wrong with that, my friend. Labels can be important to a collector. Heck, I even make my own for my own generic slabs. I really like the ATB quarter labels that NGC made. The label for your ASE makes it more than just an ordinary bullion piece to many collectors.
This arrived a few days ago. Another image from a different room. The orange glow on the bottom of the reverse is from my lamp. The coin doesn't look like that.
1901 S MS 62 Morgan (update) I’m quite pleased to have this coin. You can pretend that it doesn’t have a mm, if you want ?
About a week ago I asked if anyone had an update on Steve Tompkins' new book on bust half dollars. Someone posted a link to his website (Thanks, I had lost my bookmark.) and while there I found a couple of coins...Bad pics (as usual when I take them rather than asking to use the sellers...I always seem to have too much yellow) but here goes.
You got 'em both. For some reason I had never owned a 36-108 in 50 years of concentrating on CBHs. The '27 is a major upgrade to my previous example.
