I've noticed one underlying collecting rationale for some collectors is the pursuit of TPG-graded coins in the highest (or as high as possible) grades. And it's not just big-dollar coins, either, but just any coin, even obscure contemporary world coins. What is this collecting focus normally called? Does it have a name?
Some of them are just trying to build a top registry set at one of the TPG's websites. Others have been convinced that collecting 70's in modern coins is the way to go. I'm a strong believer in collecting what you like. If you like the 70's or top pop go for it. I just can't see them holding their value in the long run.
Well, unfortunately I will never know. My wife, kids, and poor choice of employment have seen to that
Based upon my experiences with the $$$$$$ wealthy $$$$$$, you will feel entitled, only what you have to say counts, butt into conversations so you can expound on your wealth of knowledge, on ad infinitum and be an obnoxious SOB who cares about only themselves. Nome are friends because I told them what I think of them when they interrupted my conversations. Talk about breaking up a party.
I'd go around everywhere with a big chip on your shoulder, nursing all your grudges, telling everyone what raw deals you have been ripped off on over the years! No shame in talking the ears off a donkey!!! Having a gun on your hip wouldn't hurt either! The one percenters all belong in jail!!!!
It's called collecting and the same thing that every collector does. Every collector buys the best they can afford and top pop collectors or those that go after the finest quality are no different, they just have deeper pockets. Doesn't make them any less of collectors or any different
