I was browsing through some past coins that I have already sold or no longer have, and this struck me as one of the coins I've missed the most. Although I sold if for a decent profit, I would have loved to keep it in my collection. 1660-1685 England, Charles II AU Touchpiece, 3.42g These gold touchpieces were part of a ceremony, where coins touched by the King (or Queen) were given to those affected by Scrofula. The king's touch was thought to have healing abilities, so these coins were touched by King Charles II himself, and holed for wear. I think it's so cool that one is able to trace this coin to a specific moment, or even to the presence of a notable individual in history. Off the top of my head, other examples of such coins could be the Wang Mang Gold inland knife coin, or the Constantine I Medallions. Obviously this is not in my collection but it is certainly an impressive AR medallion. The reverse shows nimbate soldiers.
