Here is my 1798 Draped Bust cent and the 1809 Half Cent

    Here is my 1798 Draped Bust cent and the 1808 Half Cent

    Finally have the camera so don't mind if I post the pics finally :hammer: :computer:

    The Cent first...she isn't the best but was one of my first coppers so she holds a special place in my heart...

    And now the Half Cent...yeah I know the hole SUCKS but again was the first half cent I purchased so...there ya go

    I like the cent. Worn well, but still retains a lot of nice detail in the outlines and the date. I'd take one like that every time.

    Nice coins - the 1798 might be a S-166, but no books with me while on travel. The half cent has seen better days, but was probably worn around the neck. Nice coppers.

    I love that 1798. I think those old Draped Bust coppers have one of the nicest looks of all American coins, and even when very worn they look awesome. Thanks for sharing!

    Just think of all the "stories" those coins could tell regarding who spent them and who put a hole in them.

    No doubt about the 1798 being an S-166 That long arc crack to the left is diagnostic even on all but the earliest die state. (Breen lists a Die State I with no die crack as extremely rare, but I haven't ever heard of or seen one.)

    The Half 1c is 1808. By 1809, they were Classic Head.

    Half Cents made the transition from Draped Bust to Classic one year after the Large Cents. Does anyone know the story on that ?

    The half cent is an 1808 C-3
