Has anyone used GBCoin? I purchased some air-tites from them for a great price; but are these the real deal? They all came individually packaged, and i'm not talking about the carded blister packs but each piece was in its own plastic envelope. I have never seen this before. Does anyone know if they sell the original air-tites?

  3. i don't know about that particular store, but i recently ordered air tites and the company i ordered from sent them individually wrapped. i had never used air tites before and the ones i got individually wrapped were fine.

    Ha! This gives me pause....

Just this past weekend I was browsing for Air-Tites and I noticed that prices seem to be a bit cheaper than 6 months ago. Hmmmm......

I've only ordered air-tites twice and they just come in baggies. There are no markings on them.

How DO you tell if you have "real" air-tites - when purchased in bulk and they come like mentioned in the posts?

Does it matter as long as they do the same thing ?

Ummm.. Because they are advertised as such and you are paying the money for such. Do they do the same thing?

In short, I expect nothing but the best from my Chinese suppliers - not some knock-off from other wanna-be manufacturing countries!

  7. that was kinda my thought. never having used them before, i wouldn't know the real ones from fake ones. and since the ones i got were tite once i snapped the coins in, i think the ones i got are ok...although now that i think about it i did order mine from air-tites company. i completely forgot that. so that probably makes a difference and probably explains why they were individually wrapped.

No hard plastic coin holder is going to have PVC.

I purchased some air-tites awhile back that came individually packaged in those little baggies, and some of them were too tight for some of the coins they supposedly fit.

From now on I'm going to buy the air-tites with the little foam rings.

Can someone explain to me what PVC really is. Or a link. :smile

PVC is a type of plastic, it's used in all kinds of products from your shower curtain to your sewer lines. Guarantee you have lots of it in and around the house.

But, what you have to worry about with coins is this - the soft vinyl flips that you get coins in or the pages in 3 ring binders, that clear soft and flexible plastic is made soft and kept flexible by a pasticizer. Over time, that plasticizer breaks down, turns into a gas and oozes out of the plastic. That gas settles on the coins and turns back into a semi-solid. And the stuff can literally eat a coin up, it disolves the metal.

    That's PVC.
