I started collecting in 1963 My buffalo album from those early days was less than half full. I did not have an Indian cent album but I think I had like 3 in my "keepers" box. Kinda stopped in the 70s started up again about the mid 90s When I was a kid I never had the chance to look through whole rolls of coin. I just looked through my pocket change and once in a while, my parents change.
so, even in the early 60s there was not a lot in circulation.
I think most of the time when there was a big change in the design of a coin, within 2 years most of the old stuff was horded away. within 10 years they were truly scares.
for most common modern coins, I have 2 albums, one the old one that is still just what I have found in circulation. The second is one that I have made improvements by trading or buying a few. The first is still the most fun! but I enjoy the process of finding little finds and trading up or selling a few, then getting that really nice one that makes it into the second book!

The majority of Buffalo nickels seen were dateless or partial date, but you could find up to VF from the 1930's. Plenty of dateless S.L. quarters.Dimes and halves back to 1917 in low grade with the occasional 1916 dime. Very little Barber silver, but the occasional Good or AG.

I'll be 65 in a couple of months. The only Indian I ever got in change was from the ice cream man when I was a kid. As I was not into collecting coins much back then (I was a stamp guy), I had to ask my Dad what it was. I've gotten a few Buffalos over the years (usually dateless) and once got a Barber dime in change about 30 years ago, believe it or not. When I was a kid, it was not unusual for my parents to give me SLQ's as lunch money....If I only knew...

Yeah the only buffalos I can find are either dateless or a 1936 or 1937 in G4 condition. My first buffalo nickel came from a older couple while I was on nightshift at baskin robins. But my best find was a 1913 D that I had to nic a date.
