I finally added a Genoa 2 Scudi into my multiple sized crown collection. This one is a thick piece of Silver weighs at 75g.

Ornate cross with cherub heads and wings in angels, reverse with Madonna and Child on the cloud.

PCGS True view, I think the coin looks much better in hand.

This is from my book Large size silver coins of the world by John S Devenport and TYGE Sondergaard. Just imagine to hold a 10 Scudi at 382 grams.

Wow. Very handsome. Quite cherub-heavy, ain't it? I like that. Wonderful design.

Can't say as how I've ever seen the Virgin Mary armed with a sword before, though.

Look out! She almost impaled that cherub on the left! :nailbiting:

Lol, the scepter does look like a sword.

Ohhhh.... OK, yeah, looking closer now, I see it is more scepter-ish. I'm relieved. Warlike Madonna jabbing cherubs was a rather disconcerting image!

Large ornate coin, later in the 1800's Genova 5 Lire silver crowns (Scudi) were only 25 grams. That coin is heavier than 3 of the later crowns.

That's a great coin. I wonder how many of those 10 Scudos have survived. Thanks for sharing the chart.

10 scudi must have been like a manhole cover. Or a pizza plate, at least. ;)
