Doug, Not as bad as it sounds. Heat stick used to help keep air circulating and help keep the safe at a stable temp. Although I have a feeling that you already know why I use it. Actually, heat stick is at the very bottom of the safe and not near any coins. I did not use one at first and started to see spoting on some of my coins. After I put it in, I didn't see as many spots popping up on the coins. Don't know if the two are related, but I have been using one since and have not had any problems. Started to use one EVA dry dehumidifier a few years ago and just bought the second one a few weeks ago. I am in the process of finding a good hygrometer to monitor the humidity. Should have done all this a long time ago, but I didn't find CT until last year.

So the fan inside the safe is not a good idea? Just joking! Point taken. Will unplug heat stick when I get home.
