This from an email I just received. Some great opportunities. "During what would have been the ANA's annual Summer Seminar event, June 29-July 10, the Association will instead offer free virtual courses through its new ANA eLearning Academy. Eleven courses that would have been offered during Summer Seminar will be offered in a condensed one- to two-hour online format. Courses are open to both ANA members and non-members; there is no charge to participate but pre-registration is required." https://info.money.org/elearning?ut...FiIg&utm_content=89744479&utm_source=hs_email
There is a limit of 500 participants for these. You don't have to be an ANA member to enroll. The Morgan dollar class I'm teaching currently has 270 students enrolled, so there's still space for now.
@Mountain Man. Thank you for the link. I signed up for several courses, including the one given by @messydesk.
I signed up for the early US paper money course. There were a couple of others I would have liked to sign up for, but I can't be available at the times they are being held.
I'm not sure why if it is an online course, why they have limited the number of sign-ups, but I'm glad I got in on the ones I wanted, minus the Grading 101 class.
I also wanted to sign up for the Grading 101. I'll just re-watch the grading videos by PCGS on YouTube.
If it's live there's limits on how many the streaming service will allow. Zoom for instance has a cap at 500 or 1000 but the 1k costs more to be able to run. Technically you could turn the class into a video whether it be youtube or otherwise for people to watch at a later date, but the streaming services have limits for what can happen in real time
The Money Talks presentations are also going to be presented through the e-Learning Academy. This could be the beginning of a new way of broadening the communication about coins.
I'm a member, yet this is the first I heard of it. Like the Mint, the Grading class was filled before I found out. Due to my health, I am limited on any travel and this would have been an great way to learn about grading other than most of the books that were of little help.
@Mountain Man please fix the title - courses are open to non-members too, as in the quote. As to why limited to 500? That's the limit for Zoom until you get into very pricey territory (even so, Enterprise plans for 100 hosts at $2,000/month isn't chump change) https://zoom.us/pricing
My thoughts on the title was that you wouldn't know about the classes unless you were a member. As for the ZOOM information; I've never used or been on ZOOM so had no idea. Thanks for the information.
