Meow would think with the four rolls something would have popped up. Meow is happy just to stash the rest of the rolls. But Meow's CRH has taken a big hit cash wise. As $550 worth of quarters has been stashed in the last few weeks. 30 rolls Missouri ATBs and now 25 rolls AMPs.

It appears that Meow may need a larger kitty crib, so to expand Meow's coinage hoard. There are plenty of filthy rich Queen kitties out there just waiting to direct Meow's attention their way.....and away from the nearest Coinstar till.

more likely a lamination error. In those days the metal was rolled out and sometimes there would be places where the metal wasn't solid and when it was rolled out it would create these sorts of cracks or separations of the metal.
run a thread over in the error forum. You will probably get a better answer and possibly an offer to buy it.

i would hazard a guess as to say no wear on the coin whatsoever, in reality all coins, unless in mint sets or proof sets or collector only pieces are circulated, as they go from the mint to brinks or whatever get rolled then put into circulation, so in reality there is no such thing as an uncirculated business strike coin then...?????

Why so many rolls of each? What are you thinking . 30 rolls seems like an awful lot

while "uncirculated" can mean that it has, in fact, never been put into circulation, it also has another meaning. Uncirculated is also a grade. If the coin shows no obvious signs of the kind of wear that circulating would make, it can have the grade of uncirculated. So, for that reason a coin that has actually been in circulation for a short time, and escaped any wear marks, may still be considered uncirculated
Here is the PCGS site with photos of cents that are in grade 60-70 all of which may be considered uncirculated.

Hunted 8 boxes of halves this morning frog-style, I cheated and edge searched :) This is the 1st Ben I've found that might sneak into MS, it has pretty nice luster. Happy 4th everyone!

That is also a reason for grades to be in terms of "Mint State". The grade of a coin is in terms to its preservation, Not intended nor actual use. That is why a "circulated" (or impaired) proof is graded in terms of PR and not Fair-AU. A proof that has signs of circulation would be termed as something like PR-45 and not EF-45.

And as we are roll hunting, we should really remember that. There are a large number of extremely high grade coins available at face value through rolls. And, no, this is not going to make one rich (necessarily).

Silver is not the only thing to be found in rolls. I personally keep most of the coins I find to be in Mint State when going through rolls. Is it going to make me rich? No. But it keeps them preserved and allows me to pass them on to others in search of good quality mint state modern coins.

Furthermore, I would submit that the coin has not seen any circulation until it has been used in commerce. A coin goes from the mint to the packager to the reserve vaults to the the banks. It still has not seen circulation and is thus uncirculated. The coin goes from the bank to the customer...still no circulation.

Meow then takes the shiny disks to the cat hoard...guess what...still no circulation.

That is the great thing about roll hunting. There's something in it for everyone. Whether you are silver stacking, error searching, variety hunting, upgrading to some mint state examples, building a design variety collection, or any other of the plethora of reasons, there is something in it for you!

So, get to it and enjoy the CRH!

I couldn't do that. I will save maybe 2 rolls of B/U quarters MWR of each mint mark, I also usually get an S roll from the mint. The other BU rolls I open and search. Then I pullout the BEST quarters from the searched rolls and make a roll or 2 of those. We all know a BU roll will have several grades of coins in them depending on scratches, dings and bag marks. I them put the high MS quarters in a tube and mark them, and dump the rest, to invest in future rolls. I see no point in keeping 25 MWR in the hoard. 2 of each MM and a tube or two of HIGH grade, the rest go back.

Meow has no choice, Meow is deeply compelled to do so. Who could say no to another mouse in paw?
