    Sme nice french silver coins/kings portraits folks. Sadly I haven't got any of those big chunks (the official reason is they dond'nt fit in my Abafil trays because they are so big :D )

    Here are some portraits of Louis XVI on a 1/2 ecu, a 12 denier and a 30 sols :

    AR Ecu
    O: LVD•XIIII•D•G (soleil) FR•ET•NAV•REX, Bust with square neckline.
    R: Lettering: SIT•NOMEN•DOMINI• E BENEDICTVM 1693 M Crowned round arms of France within sprays.
    Toulouse - flan réformé

    Here is my 1792. I collect pre WWI multiple denomination crowns. However, this is one of the two non-multiple denomination crowns I keep.

    Very nice addition, Mat!

    I do not own any Ecu's issued under the reign of Louis XVI, but have these two issued by the guys who sent him to the guillotine - La Convention Nationale.

    Nice ecus, everybody.

    Here are a couple of them that wound up in Berne Switzerland c. 1816 to get counterstamped as 40 Batzen pieces - they also had the rims redone. I read somewhere that most of these got melted down by c. 1850 by Swiss watchmakers to use for cases:
