If I wanted to get $2 bills, do I just go to the bank and say "I want $2 bills" and give them (say) $10 for 5 $2 bills?
I usually write a note and hand it to them. It instructs them to give me $2 bills, unmarked, and I hand them a cloth bag for them to stuff them into. I also write in the note that they should act like nothing strange is happening. Most banks might have some, but most do not stock them necessarily. So, it is hit and miss. I think my bank keeps the ones they get to give back to customers who ask, but otherwise it is hit or miss. The last time I went they gave me a red seal $2 bill. Nice to look at, but worth only $2.
O.K. you know I have to ask this question, now don't you? Do you also wear a mask while conducting the above described action?
well i have a couple minor changes.... its not really a mask, but face paint and its not a cloth bag, but a black bookbag. and the not also says dont hit the bottom under u, it doesnt work, i installed it
If your bank has a "commercial teller" window, try that. The commercial teller window will usually have brand new bills pre-wrapped in bundles of 100. You can get 1's, 2's 5's, etc. usually that are brand new, fresh and crisp.
I work in the main vault of a bank on the East Coast, and we don't regularly stock $2s. The branches call in to verfiy if we have what they need. I would suggest calling your bank branch and asking to order some in, they might only let you order 1 strap ($200) or more straps, not loose like $68.
Well, if you must know, I do wear a mask in the winter because it's cold, and in the sommer because I might catch some desease. Gloves are required for the same reason, but since I lost one, I do usually keep my hand in my pocket.
I almost died laughing when I read this. A "commercial window"???? Brand new bills in bundles????????? For most of us, back here on planet earth, we have no such luxury. At Christmas my bank gets maybe one or two bundles of new ones and doles them out sparingly to people who want to give them as gifts in cards, etc. If you have a bank giving you new bundles, etc., you are darn lucky. Heck, a majority of the USA can't even get their hands on a Sacky dollar.
I live in Oklahoma City which is one of the most backwater spots on the planet when it comes to coins and currency. Heck, we used wampum and the bartering system up until 2003!! Where do you live, Timbuktu?
JBK, I must clarify one of your statements and make a comment on another! The banks DO NOT WANT THEIR HANDS ON THE DOLLAR so they refuse to call them out from the Federal Reserve. And, do you take a handgun with you to get the $2 bills? For protection purposes as everyone would probably know, when seeing you leave the bank, that you are more than likely caring money! You stated you kept your bare hand in your pocket so I must assume that would be to keep the gun from falling out! Great idea! I will probably try it next week on some rolls of buffalo nickels!!!
Well, my US banking experience is about 35 miles south of Boston. That may be the problem. Maybe the big city banks monopolize all the new stuff, and the small independents get nothing. I know the big supermarkets tend to get new bills.
35 miles South of Boston? Sounds right about on top of me At the bank at the mall, where I work, they have acommercialwindow but our bank orders are fillin with crisp bills only 1/3 the time.
It's reserved, more or less, for their customers that are businesses. Business customers are more likely to have large deposits, or require large amounts of change/currency for withdrawal. That's why the business window is more likely to have pre-wrapped, basically uncirculated, notes, as CoinOKC observed. And that's why businesses that do a lot of their business in cash, like grocery stores, often will give you as change consecutivly numbered notes. It's how they got it.
