A few days ago I won an auction on eBay that consisted of a British 1971 proof set (bonus! lol) and 4 sets of Canadian 1976 Olympic silver coins. Now the coins aren't worth a lot numismatically and they are down right butt ugly, but in each set there are two 90% silver 5 dollar coins (0.7227 oz ASW) and two 90% silver 10 dollar coins (1.4454 oz ASW). So, the four sets contain 17.3448 ounces of silver. I picked up the entire lot for about $168 US, before shipping. Clearly a few other bidders were in the know about the silver content, but I guess these coins were obscure enough to keep away all the rabid silver buyers out there. All in all, I think I did pretty good!
Can not really tell from the pictures but considering the silver content on its own, you have done quite well. Bet they are not that ugly I may be mistaken but it appears to me that on EBay anyhow, some of the lower to mid level coins have dropped in price lately. Some of the stuff I have been looking at for a while seems to have come down in price. Just can not seem to press that enter key to complete the purchase right now.
Well, they're not UGLY I guess... it's just that some of the designs I find a little lacking. Putting images of buildings and maps on Olympic coins (of all things) doesn't really appeal to me. I guess the designer was owed a favor or something. Here are a few samples:
I don't think they are ugly, there are even a couple there I like. The second one from the left isn't one of them...but some of them are nice IMHO.
