    I'll try another one:

I bought this coin raw...as you can see...sent to PCGS and it came back AU55 all around the 2012 time frame. Sometime later it went off to CAC. What happened?

Very nice coin with sharp details. To me it looks close to a 58. I'll go with a green bean.

From what I understand about their taste - it beaned - will wager green. It’s a really nice coin. Wb shocked if no bean.

If no bean that’s last time they would ever get my money.

Yes on the bean. I think it shows a little too much reverse wear for a 55 but for market grading I am sure it's a solid B or A 55 or better due to low number and size of distracting marks, luster and attractive toning.

I say yes for a bean. I love the look of this coin - nice toning, very little wear, and the only potentially distracting dings are on Liberty's nose, and below her lip. Those should rule out a gold bean.

I don't know how CAC feels about secondary album toning on coins such as this, but it looks very attractive and good enough for the numerical grade.

    I say Green Bean.

I'll guess no sticker ...I like it as a 55 but think CAC might not

OK, I'm a bit late but here ya go:

    50c-1829_ObvSlab.JPG

To answer an earlier question CAC usually will not sticker a coin that has been dipped and re-toned. I can't count the times JA told that to me when I questioned one of my coins that failed. He'd say "...cleaned....long ago". So my guess here is that this particular coin was "original enough" to pass. I was kind of happy that a coin I bought raw got graded.

Green CAC on coin and deserves it: 26
Green CAC on coin and doesn't deserve it: 17
Gold CAC on coin and deserves it: 1
Gold CAC on coin but should only be Green: 6
Gold CAC on coin but should not sticker:
Failed to sticker but deserves a sticker: 9
Failed to sticker and should not sticker: 2
Unknown sticker status and deserves a sticker:3
Unknown sticker status and does not deserve a sticker:2

Note: if we don’t know the status of a coin before the reveal and more people say green CAC for a gold CAC coin, then it will go in the area of “Gold CAC on coin but should only be Green” ....see round 3 as the example case

    *
Rd. 10 was 4-4...I interpreted that CircCam would consider it a no (based on a similar example), which swayed the overall vote to a lean towards no.
Rd. 13 was tied between green and gold at 4-4...I interpreted that geekpryde would consider it a gold

Here's one for your July 4th pleasure. PCGS PR-62. This is the one-year only Paquet Obverse half-dime, only struck at the Philadelphia mint. This is the V-2 die pairing and is the last Liberty Seated Half Dime I needed for my Red Book (more or less) type set. The Paquet Obverse is not listed in Red Book as a separate variety but many collectors consider it so, as do I.

I have not been able to accurately capture the mirrors on obverse and reverse but they are there, although the coin has some toning. The smears on the reverse are on the holder.

    Did it bean?

    Happy Independence Day!
