If anyone has a capped bust half from New Orleans, I'd love to see it! Especially if it's a 1838-O!!!
BTW, the Capped Bust Half is the only coin minted in New Orleans where the O mint mark is located on the obverse. Edit: See below for correction.
I thought the Classic head was obverse as well? Btw this thread as got me thinking about a 1839-O because I love cool mint marks
Ah yes, I was focused on the silver, not thinking about the gold. Thanks for pointing out my omission.
Nope. The closest I can get is an 1839-O $2.50 gold. I did compete against a collector who had an 1838-O half dollar in the 2019 FUN exhibits. He won the People’s Choice Award.
