Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good day. Well, it's been asked alot by alot of people. And now I'm one of them. Do I have a small date? I have 9 1982D cents all weighing from 3.10 to 3.14 grams but I would like to know if anyone thinks any at all could possibly be a small date...? Thank you.
Ditto. Welcome to CT BTW. Shortly after it was confirmed that there was a large and small date, companies like Littleton sold complete sets of both for a few dollars, so there probably are some out there.
@cpm9ball that's actually what had to do with my confusion. I've been looking at that website for months and I was sure I had both dates down pat...until I got a book that shows them a little differently for some reason. Thank you. And if just a no mint small 82 weighs more, it's not worth anything right? Supposedly half and half with the change. @Mountain Man thank you...I'll never stop the hunt lol. Whether it be the copper or the bronze, I want one. No clue why but it's intriguing to me...
@cpm9ball my bad. I'm mostly just fascinated by the 82D situation but have quite a few wheats and DD. Could you pm me when you get a chance please? I'm going to take pics of a quarter and 2 nickels real quick and maybe you can tell me how they got like this if you wouldn't mind. I've wondered for 10 years since the first one found its way to me.
I don't mind sending you a PM, but as far as I know, you can't post photos to a PM. I could be wrong, but I've never been able to post photos to a PM in the 10 years I've been a member. Give it a try! Click on my avatar and select, "Start a Conversation", and see if you can post a photo to a message. ~ Chris
PM me your address and I'll send you some. Which ones do you want? I have P small zinc, P large zinc, D small zinc, P small copper, P large copper, D large copper. No S MM.
I'm confused now. Did you not post that you are "I'm mostly just fascinated by the 82D situation"? I offered to send you some of the ones I listed.
Yeah, the story behind it fascinates me but it's the small date 82D copper I'm really wanting. Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you. That was nice of you to offer though, thanks!
Good luck acquiring that! It's more than impossible. Only 2 have ever been discovered and attributed. I think they were 2 Copper blanks that were stuck and mixed in with the other copper plated zinc planchets.
That's strange. I've heard about this issue from other members. I've never had that problem. Maybe we can ask in the support forum?
