I imagine that somewhere there is a die-hard collector of these that could author a Whitman Red Book on the series.
And so the joke about Sac dollars looking like Chuck E Cheese tokens back when they came out becomes funnier.
I would be surprised there is not one already. Seems to be a book on nearly every esoteric numismatic subject, though sometimes the books are much rarer than the items. Some are pretty bad. I still grin at reading a review of a book in Dennis Kroh's "Ancient Coin Reference Review". The bottom line was, "I feel dumber having read this book".
It will be sad if Chuck E. Cheese is gone. I've only been there like once or twice in my entire life. But never the less, it's sad to see businesses that have been around for decades close up forever. If you go on ebay you could probably find a bunch of these coins for sale with lots of bids and watchers on them. People collect everything imaginable. Look at Beanie Babies for example. I remember when those things were the biggest thing since sliced bread, around 1999 or so. Now you can go on ebay and see entire lots of them for sale with a starting bid of $1.00 and no one's placing any bids. 22 or so years ago you couldn't touch one for a dollar.
Even if the Big Cheese does stick around, it sounds like many of their locations have converted to swipe card systems. So no more tokens, apparently. Either way, an era has ended. I have one more CEC token from 1983 but I haven't bothered to photograph it. I'm not even completely sure why I still have them, honestly, or how I managed to hang on to them for so long. I wonder if anyone ever tried to pass off a Chuck E. Cheese token for a "golden dollar?" Can someone else try that?
If anyone seriously thinks about going into a Chuck e Cheese or Peter Piper Pizza for the pizza, well, you probably should think again...
The only Major Magic's that is going to open and be operating as an arcade and eatery. Will be located in Clinton TWP Michigan. It Has the last and only operating Anachronistic Revue that came out of the last Ohio store. Road sign store and better part of the parking lot, was an eatery that has been closed for about 5 years will keep an eye on it for an opening and if they get their own tokens. the vintage pinball machines will be from Sparks pinball museum and bar( more of a bar with museum as an after thought. Lots of complaints that machines don't work They were going to open just about the governor closed the state down
My comment on the quality of the pizza stands. I didn't go there for the the pizza. First time for my grandson's 5th birthday. Second time with a group of his friends a few years later.
