    Seems Spain cheated on their monetary system, by lowering gold content from .916 2/3 too .875.One reason for this/ British pirates/ Royal Navy plundered lots of Spanish shipping from 1550-1805:(

    According to Numista, 1760-1771 was .917, 1772-1785 was .901, and 1786-1788 and later was .875.
