    Don't know the coin type, but the legend looks far too neat to be real. Vote fake.

    I don't know these either, but say fake. The hair on the obv and details on rev and the change from the fields towards the rim look funny.

    It looks like a real coin issued by Claudius in honor of his father.

    The coin is indeed real....It is going for over $1,000 on Forvm right now.

    yes, you would be suprised how good the detail can be on ancient coinage. There are some coins that would make this one look silly.

    Romans produced some of the most outstanding examples of ancient portraiture in certain periods...

    Coins like these would have been produced during what I would think is around the pinnacle of artistry in Roman coins producing outstanding likenesses of their ruler. Like these guys as a tiny sample:

    They came a long way baby...by the middle ages they would be back to punching out rough dies :)

    The corrosion at 1 o clock on the reverse is a good hint that its real.

    I would not have guessed that coin was real. That's some great detail.

    I like the display of coins i'm not an acient guy only my age is. i have to say they had some pretty good artist in those days the desig ns are cool. I don't know ancients so I can;t give you an answer on it Nice coins people.

    I guess if I had seen that for sale I would have overlooked it thinking it.... was fake... what would I have missed??? wow

    by the way, i was wondering... when buying coins like these, do they give some sort of cert for it? i mean even if it's just $38 :confused:
