An imitation, but of what?

    I am pretty sure this is some kind of barbarous imitation, but I just can't see it.

    Unless it's something else entirely.

    I see a right facing bust on the obverse.
    I believe I have the reverse rightside up, but am unsure.

    Byzantine decanumium it appears. See the "I" and "Anno" to the left?

    It's also questionable whether this is even an imitation. Many early Byzantine bronzes were very poorly made.

    True. Kind of looks like a Nikomedia issue that started out crude and had a tough life.
