Always complaining about my coins lost in the mail somewhere, that's who I am. I found this Tetricus II with a reverse absent in my collection from a seller on ebay. Very cheap, not so bad condition for this emperor and also it's a fat one : 4.86g. I ordered it June 15th and it was at my door this morning: from FRANCE! (I'm in Canada). It's my Guinness world record of all time for FAST shipping oversea. So sadly, I'm not whining about anything today... Please show me your fastest "Road Runner" coin !
On June 8, I reported here the four day delivery by DHL from Spain to Virginia. I paid more for the speed and the coin but these days using DHL makes sense. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/it...how-without-leaving-home.361349/#post-4558215 Finally is a near duplicate to a coin I had but this one is a date I have wanted since I learned it existed. This Tiberius as with rudder on globe reverse is dated TR POT XXXIIX or 38 using the double subtractive method you do not see every day. I would have preferred a coin with full legends on both sides but the 38 is clear and the surfaces acceptable. This coin was delivered FOUR DAYS after the Spanish auction in which it appeared closed. The tracking showed DHL took it from Spain to Brussels to Cincinnati and then to me. Considering the fact that certain other sellers and certain other carriers have not reopened yet, I was amazed. If there were no Covid delays, would this have arrived before the sale closed?
I bought a coin last week from the Netherlands and it arrived two days later to the US. FedEx is incredible.
Ok @dougsmit and @AncientJoe : you completely beat me up...( but I should have specified my shipping was from regular postal services !)
Recent delivery times from Europe to New York City, all in the last month: 31 hours from Zedelgem, West Flanders, Belgium to NYC via DHL: 41 hours from London, UK to New York City via DHL: 53 hours from Paris, France to New York City via Federal Express: 54 hours from Alcalá la Real, Spain to New York City via DHL: Meanwhile, a coin shipped 10 days ago, on June 12, from Niles, IL to New York City via USPS: still not arrived. The tracking information shows it as having sat in the USPS Regional Origin Facility, CAROL STREAM IL DISTRIBUTION CENTER for five days; it has apparently made its way now to Kearny, NJ. I won't post a photo until it gets here.
I'm still waiting on two coins from Poland I purchased May 11th, and one from Sweden I purchased on June 4th. The coins from Poland are from a numismatic shop I visited in Krakow a few years back. I'm not worried, but anxious is a better term.
Sorry to hear that. Is there tracking on them? Not that it's a guarantee of anything, but I've gotten so used to it that I'm very uncomfortable whenever a coin ships to me without it.
A friend in Canada is waiting for a coin from Pennsylvania that was shipped just over a month ago. It was regular post, of course, which doesn't include tracking. Steve
Yes, there is tracking on them all. The one from Sweden is showing it processing through US Customs, but the package from Poland only shows in transit. I've asked the seller if he can trace it from his end.
I am in the US and ordered a coin from a German MA-Shops firm May 11. They say they have an contract to ship exclusively with DHL and cannot yet ship it. I got this email response today to my enquiry, "Unfortunately, we're still not able to send the coin. As long as you still want your order, we'll send it to you as soon as possible."
I sent a package to Belgium (an APO address) for my grandson's birthday. Somehow it ended up in Prague at a DPO (Diplomatic Post Office). I ended up calling the US Embassy in Prague and spoke with the mail clerk. He said they have the package but are unable to send it on to Belguim or back into the APO system because of restrictions caused by the global pandemic. So, my grandson's birthday gift has to wait. Try telling that to a five year old.
Now that is a site to behold. The portrait and helmet are so spectacular that you would worry it could lead you to miss the fact that right there is one of the meanest images of a club, ancient or modern, that I've seen: Huge congrats, sir! Only ancient Joe could get my dream coin https://www.cointalk.com/threads/dream-coin.361404/ in 2 days Though only slightly different is my Macedonian shield coin that made it from Germany to Salt lake city, was paid for @5PM on Sunday and arrived the coming Tuesday @3PM: Alexander III 'the Great' KINGS OF MACEDON. (336-323). Ae. Uncertain mint in Western Asia Minor. Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion’s skin headdress. Rev: BAΣIΛEΩΣ. Bow in bowcase (counter mark in bow case) and club; torch below. That was fast shipping, I am waiting for a win from Nomos in Switzerland, shipped June 5th and still not here, they sent it registered so I have no idea how long I will be waiting.
I bought this dupondius of Nerva April 8th from a dealer in Norway. I'm still waiting. Tracking says still in Norway. The dealer blames covid and says be patient.
I, too, am in the U.S. and just ordered from a German shop on MA Shops (Kölner Münzkabinett). I ordered on June 16, the coin was shipped June 18, and today it has left Kentucky and I should have it tomorrow or the next day. Mine has a USPS tracking number, but it started out with DHL. What shop did you buy your coin from, so I can avoid them?
