The "penny" is slowly coming to an end, half dollars no longer circulate, dollar coins are a bad joke.

This leaves the three real denominations... 5,10,and 25 cent coins, or possibly currency.

GW repeats on the quarter and $1 bill.

Obama 25 cent piece ? I think Bush would look good on a coin. !

None yet. He would have to be in office first.

He should be on a coin. After all, he ran for 'change', not 'currency'.

I think if he were assassinated before taking office, he'd be on a coin/bill faster than JFK was hastily thrown on the half in 1964.

I'm hoping for a GWB quarter personally.

I don't think we need any more Presidents on coins. We have too many already. Be sides that if they did stick another Prez on a coin let's hope it is because they did somthing that changed or helped the nation. Not just because he/she was the first of a sex/ethnic background to get elected.

Finally, a rational answer. I'm tired of presidents on all coins. The US has to have the most boring coin designs on earth, Why can't we bring a little bit of art back to coinage...and that doesn't mean a whole new set of unused presidents. And people wonder why I don't collect anything modern.

alrighty---guys--this is a boarderline topic, and many are walking the line. At the place I'm at right now I can't watch Youtubes so I'm going to remove those links.

-----If the YouTube video is about COINS then you may link it back....but if it is about anything else that we don't talk about in this forum, then the thread will be locked.

None of them. I don't see where just being in front of a bullet qualifies you to be on one of our coins. If it does then I think he would have to get in line behind about 4000 other people who served in Iraq and Afghanistan who did it first.

I agree with a previous statement that we don't need any more presidents on coins...I would love to see all of them return to a depiction of Liberty instead of a president.

Now, that being said we do have presidents on our coins. I also don't think that being assassinated is enough to earn you a coin. I have always believed that the presidents on our coins did something significant to be where they are. Would Lincoln be on a coin if he survived his office? I would say a definite yes. Would JFK?...maybe, though call.

But, Obama has yet to even set foot in office. If he turns out to be a great President (which he may or may not be...I truly have no idea and don't read this as a Obama support statement) then his name would be on the list of President's who deserve to be on a coin...assassination or not.

My own opinion of the man aside, I believe he must earn a spot on a coin...there is no default assassination route. Remember, Garfield and McKinley have never been on a coin.

I think we need to let an artist with great talents like Saint-Gaudens design the next design. The political divide in this country right now is a great reason for doing so. After all, the Ike dollar was a just political response for the Kennedy half. What next? Hopefully a beautiful design that represents and satisfies everyone. Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, a bald eagle... Too bad these were all used on commems already!
