Happy Father’s Day Weekend to all those who qualify! Very excited to add the following two coins as my Father’s Day gifts for 2020.. Two big, beautiful folles at 29mm each.. A Father and Son team that changed the world! The first is a Constantius I (as Caesar) follis, minted in Cyzicus between 297-299AD - during the first Tetrachy. The portrait boasts excellent details (WOW!). The reverse legend: GENIO AVGG ET CAESARVM NN (to the guardian spirits of our Emperors and Caesars) was only struck at this mint (although it is not rare at all). Constantius I, Chlorus, as Caesar Reign: As Caesar, A.D. 293-305. Denomination: Æ Follis. Diameter: 29 mm. Weight: 9.34 grams. Mint: Cyzicus, c. A.D. 297-299. Obverse: FL VAL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES, Laureate head right. Reverse: GENIO AVGG ET CAESARVM NN, Genius standing left, holding patera and cornucopia. Reference: Sear 14032 (RIC 11a). The second coin is of Constantine I, as Caesar. Struck between July 25th, 306 and August 16th, 307 – the dates of the Third Tetrachy. An intimidating bust for sure. Took some searching to find a nice large follis of Constantine but this one – 29mm – fit the bill. I was happy to spot this at a very reasonable price. Constantine I, as Caesar Reign: As Caesar, A.D. 306-309. Denomination: Æ Follis. Diameter: 29 mm. Weight: 8.59 grams. Mint: Heraclea, c. A.D. 306-307. Obverse: FL VAL CONSTANTINVS NOB CAES Laureate head right. Reverse: GENIO POPVLI ROMANI, Genius standing left, holding patera and cornucopia. Reference: Sear 15533 (RIC VI 31). While my family are not interested enough in my collection to actually make the selections .. the wife advised me that she will not look closely at the line items on the VISA bill next month… Also appreciate that the family gave me enough notice to ensure the coins to arrive before the day. Have a great Father’s Day.. please post any Constantius I, Constantine I or any Father’s Day gifts! Have a Great Father's Day Weekend!
Happy fathers day! And to me too And as of tomorrow that is, its 1 day here. And nice gifts! Especially great portrait on that Chlorus, a beauty! That is awesome! Otherwise, truly the nightmare of every collector! ;-)
Nice! What a great and thoughtful gift! Does your family participate with your collecting? My wife really wanted to for years, but, in time, her eyes glazed over... I do not have the very nice COMBO-PACK that you have, but I do have each: Here are some BBQ Grills for your Father's Day: RI Constantine I CE 306-337 Æ Follis 19mm 3.2g Siscia CE 326-7 AVG Laureate R - PROVIDENTIAE AVGG Camp gate 2 turrets no door star RIC 200 DAD RI Constantius I Chlorus 293-306 CE DIVO AE Quinarius Thesalonika 317-318 Seated RIC VII 25 R5 RARE
Very nice, the Constantius I follis is fantastic, must be a beauty in hand at that size. Here is my only Constantius I, along with his wife (Helena), son (Constantine I), and grandson (Constantine II).

No they do not... but when it comes time for gifts they know that coins are the only answer. So I am told to go buy something..
A Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there! My own father died six years ago (it's hard to believe that it's been that long). He was 94, but was still as sharp as ever -- and he was a brilliant man. I miss him, just like I miss my mother, who died much too young at 52; her 45th yahrzeit is tomorrow. If people don't mind, here's a photo of my father from 1943 with his parents, when he was home on leave [sorry, I pressed the post button before adding the photos; here they are]: And here he is with some lady, when he was about 85, approximately 15 years ago: PS: He was not interested in coins at all. He was an enthusiastic stamp collector when he was young, and was actually quite disappointed that I preferred coins to stamps!
