As mentioned a few times in my posts, I used to do a lot of metal detecting when I was in Spain over 30 years ago. I had sold a lot of my really nice coins I had found when I fell on hard times. I have always had that empty feeling and wish I had the same exact coins back. I think the added fact that I dug them right out of the ground where they were lost thousands of years ago and reliving those memories meant a lot more to me than just purchasing a coin as I can only do now. Some of the coins I sold were a Sestertius of Didius Julianus,Sestertius of Pertinax, Really nice As of Caligula, Tribute penny of Tiberius, Setertius of Lucius Verus, Sestertius of Hadrian, Ae3 of Hanibalianus and many many more that I would love to have back. I just purchased this one to replace one like it that I sold. Hope you like it and post up your Agrippa coins please. Agrippa, AE As. Struck under Caligula, 37-41 AD. Nice coins! @bcuda, that must have been very exciting to be the one to discover so many great artifacts! Here are two prutot of a later "Agrippa" (Marcus Julius Agrippa) who had Caligula as his patron. These were struck in large numbers for use in his kingdom. He was born about a year after Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa died. Agrippa I (37-44 AD). AE Prutot. Jerusalem mint. "Of King Agrippa" in Greek around umbrella-like canopy with fringes. / Three ears of barley and leaves, with date (year 6 of his reign, 41/2 AD) flanking.
Great and beautiful As! Wow, nice. Like that patina too, highlites it well. Personally, if it weren't for Agrippa, we can question if there had been an Augustus. It would had been interesting if he were an Emperor. Mine has been around the block. RI Agrippa AE As 28mm 11g Neptune-S-C Left And, I am sure all your past coins went to good homes, loved, and cared for!
Agrippa was a remarkable and innovative general. Augustus' success may have had a very different outcome if he were not his loyal companion.

That's a beauty, @bcuda! Glad you were able to fill that hole in your heart. I hope you are able to fill the rest of them too!
Lovely coin, @bcuda ! I'll add my humble Neptune standing example: Agrippa, 18-12 BC. Roman Æ as, 10.35 g, 27.3 mm, 7 h. Rome, under Caligula, AD 37-41. Sorry to hear that you had to sell coins you were fond of, @bcuda. But good that your are now able to find some new ones to add to your collection. I don't have the coin of Agrippa with Neptune reverse. I do have this one with his buddy, Octavian. They look like identical twins on this one
Yes, how sad it is to part with our treasures when you feel obliged to. Two nice portraits of the great general Q

Nice Agrippa's! Just two of mine: and a not so common denarius which needs a better photo: CAESAR AVGVSTVS bare head right C SVLPICIVS PLATORIN Augustus and Agrippa, both togate, seated half l. on bisellium set on platform ornamented with rostra. Very attractive patina on that one! Do you have images of any of the coins you sold? Like the others, I have the two most common Agrippa AE's On the hunt for the elusive Agrippa lifetime issue!
I had images of some of them that I lost on one of my old computers that crashed years ago. And some I had to sell around 1991 before there were digital cameras or personal home computers. I remember making a small web page of my coins probably around 1998 or 1999 I do not even remember who offered the free web page anymore. I also had a gold roman ring (that I sold) with a red carnelian intaglio (signet ring) it had a wolf, fish, and a rabbit engraved in the stone. I remember finding it like it was yesterday about 30 feet away from an old Roman well that was up on a hill in an agricultural field. I had to sit down and quit shaking for a while when I found that ring. Oh I wish I had that ring now.
