Not sure if I posted in right spot. Sorry if I did not. My question is,,, I have about a dozen of 40% Kennedy, and 6 90% halves. My local coin dealer offered 3.85 per dollar for 40% and 11 per dollar for 90%. Is that a good price??? Thanks to all who reply.

    $11.00 per 90% Half? That's excellent!

Silver melt for 90% Kennedy is $6.39 now..

Oh wait.. You mean $11.00 for 2 coins?
That's a bit lower than silver melt value but really not that bad. I would take it IMHO

The best place in the world to spot check the silver value of a coin is coinflation.com. I just looked and at this moment a 90% silver half is valued at $6.39. So if you are offered $11.00, yes that is a spectacular sell price.

Would it be better to sell to online people? They do offer better price for melt value.

I misread.... Apologies..... But sure enough, plug in that coinflation.com site. It gives you an accurate current value of any silver or gold coin based upon precious metal content.

One outfit is paying $12.91/$1 90% as I type. Won’t say which one, but they are on the web if you look around.

Current melt value is 2.62 on the 40% (1.92 offer)
    and $6.41 on the 90% (5.50 offer).
On the 90% you would want to get closer to $6 but 5.50 is not terrible.
They always complain about the 40% coins, but they still buy them. You should get closer to 2.25, 1.92 is a little low. There's no reason they can't go
$2 on the 40%. You should shop around a little as some coin stores and some buy/sell gold stores will buy at different rates. If they are over stocked in inventory, they are not going to give you a good price. If they are low in inventory and buying, you will get a better price.

Your coin dealer is only paying you $56 for abt. $6 face value? that's overkill, I'd pay around 12x face (72) for everything. Don't take less than that

Last time I checked a dealer they offered $1.50 per 40% half. That was a few months ago. I declined. May take another look around, I'm hoping to get $2.00 each. Only have $140 worth of them.
