Okay, here's the nice way to explain it to you . . . Your coin was originally an ordinary looking Lincoln Memorial Cent, as issued from the mint, just like billions of others. There was nothing special about it at the time. The coin now looks different because it was center-punched and set up on a lathe, and the reverse side of the coin was turned to remove all of the design except for the lettering in the legend and what remains at the center of the Lincoln Memorial. Hopefully, you can reciprocate by showing us the graceful way to receive the news.
I have not said anything about this thread. You guys wanted to be mean to me so ...bump it be mean to each other cuz I won't be around. I apologise if I bothered anybody because I'm an optimist in denial. #mybad
No one was mean to you. You asked a question then continued to argue the responses because they were not what you wanted to hear.
Actually she hadn't posted anything on it in ten days, then it was brought back for no reason other than to bash her.
Didn’t know that there was a time limit on responses to an open thread. Perhaps you should become a moderator so you can explain and enforce the rules.
I asked a question because I wanted to know people's opinions. When I don't understand the answer I ask another question. All day everyday. Not argue....ask.
I've read this thread with interest. As someone foreign to the US, I must admit I have never understood the fascination with mint errors, or why they would be considered so valuable (give me an ancient coin valued the same as some sort of rare mint error any day of week). My read of the discussion (and not sure if this is helpful, but here goes), is that the sticking point for both sides is that they believe it is incumbent on the other side to prove their side. Unless someone moves from this position, this will continue to go nowhere. And perhaps we're all ok with that given the volume of discussion that has already occurred. Just my 2 cents. Cheers AC (P.S. - welcome to CT @Lil ol' me, I hope you stick around, as CT is an amazing community for coin lovers. We are passionate, but it's all in good faith and in the pursuit of information exchange and knowledge)
To all who criticized me and HATERS alike...hate this link...https://lm.facebook.com/l.php?u=htt...5N8ZMIp3cEdsEMIvU_jCmtrnbAzxibk9k3KQKfna6mZ27
No. Two totally different things. The lathe lines are on the dies, not the coin. It is transferred to the coin. Your actual coin was damaged.
That link is damaged also.. I tried to open it and it does not work! Your Cent is definitely not Lathe Lines Us haters? That's funny!
