What do you see on this boldly struck Mint State Bust quarter that indicates it has been cleaned?
Do you consider it is harshly cleaned?

Is there any other kind of cleaning other than harsh? I see some buildup around the stars and some parallel lines on her bust. I would say light cleaning. Really granular looking, but that might just be the picture.

Looks like lots of hairline scratches. Especially in the fields. I’d say harshly cleaned.

Re-engraved details, then it had to be "softened" a bit to make the engravings not so sharp.

The cleaning was done post-engraving to try and blend the details better. Whether it's harsh or not (it is) is really immaterial, as the coin is fraudulently engraved.

Really, I didn't pick up on that...let's see what @Insider has to say.

Very sketchy date. May be an Overton variety, but it seems as if the date was reingraved.

This is the first thing I saw, then I was thrown for a loop when the question was about cleaning.

I see extensive tooling and smoothing in the field behind the head, and hairlines on the breast. I don’t see much evidence of metal buildup around the devices to indicate cleaning.

Tis a quarter, not a half

Someone put a lot work into this coin. My first thought was counterfeit but I'll bet the opinions posted are correct. Fun thread and coin.

The metal looks so grainy and dull.

Unless it is the photo i would say harshly cleaned as there appears to be NO remaining lustre left on the coin only a dull lighter shade to some of the higher points of the devices

In my opinion it looks fake. Hope I'm wrong, it's a very nice looking coin.
