    I came across a new style $20 Bill and compared it to other new style $20 Bills.

    The others all had Green Serial Numbers and a Black Seal on the Left.

    But this one has Dark Blue Serial Numbers and a Dark Blue Seal on the Left.

    Is this a Normal Note?
    Is it Rare?
    Is it an Error?

    I have included pictures to show you.

    Everything seems authentic to me.

    The only thing different is Serial Number Color and the Seal Color.

    In the Past Seal Colors meant something different.

    Green = Federal Reserve Note
    Blue = Silver Certificate
    Yellow = Gold Certificate
    Red = US Note
    Light Green = I have seen these but do not know what the significance was (They were 10 and 20 Bills from the 1930's).

    Maybe the different color means something else?

    Is it a Test Note Maybe?

    I have heard of those before.

    Yep. Notice that the blue eagle behind the seal has *also* changed color--he's going aqua. The eagle and the seal/serial are part of totally separate printing operations; anything that's affecting the color of *both* of them has got to be post-BEP alteration.

    It's a spender.

    Not a bleach, but rather an acid that I won't mention. I bet you the greens on the reverse have also turned a blueish hue.

    Even if it turns out to be face value I would keep it.

    P1010615.JPG Here is a note of mine I call "Better living through chemistry". It sure grabs the attention of those who see it. The shame is, it was a 1966A Red Seal in excellent condition. Well, almost excellent condition.

    Because there are unscrupulous people that read these forums, who will use these chemicals to intentionally create fake errors and doctor the notes to appear finer than they actually are. Just check out the $100 posted above.

    I did not buy the Note and it is not for sale. I got it in change and am merely wondering if it is some kind of error or rare

    I also have one of these, it’s not altered at all. They are out there, just not sure how many. I was told it was a printing error, it was possibly low on ink. Just like, when your color printer runs low on ink, it slightly changes color. It’s definitely not a spender, I’ve kept mine and I’ve had it for over 5 years now. I just would like to send it to a grading company to get it examined and graded if worth something.

    You have a group of people all possessing one of these and all curious. Suggest that you all get together and split the cost of getting one evaluated and graded. If it is real then everyone can split the cost of getting them all graded. good luck regardless

    Six plus year old post. If any of the original posters followed through on having one sent to a TPG, please let us know.
