With yesterday's announcement that the US Mint will completely overhaul it's product catalog and the realization by millions that certain programs will soon be gone, a mad dash has been made on the website and today if you look at the product catalog, most of the buillion items are now unavailable. Today the UPS man brought me my 1/4 oz. unc buffalo coin. whew!!! The only way to be certain is to have it in your hands these days. My heart sank when I learned that this year will be the only year for fractional buffaloes because I wanted to collect them. Maybe the US Mint will change their mind later and offer them late next year as well. Maybe not and my 1/4 oz. will become quite valuable, or not... lol. I am only thankful that I ordered when I did, cuz I almost missed the boat, and I certainly rank this among one of the coins that I couldn't rest until I owned. from the minute I saw one, I knew that i had to have one for my own. the very next day I sold my SAE set and went to the US Mint website and ordered it. OMG am I thankful I did what i did when I did!!! Did anyone else get in with something right under the wire? Or was anyone waiting to buy something that they now can't? I am sure my story isn't the only one in this forum.
Glad you got in under the wire Mike. I pretty much got everything I needed back a few months ago. The only gold I bought from the mint this year was the Bald Eagle commems .... the fractional buffs and AGE's weren't on my "must have" list this year. Got my one ounce proof buff last year prior to the gold spike. Glad I got that one when I did....too expensive and now unavailable.
I'm still looking into the First Spouse series. Right now I only have Jefferson's Liberty. Seems they all sold out too... Funny though, All the 2008 series sold out but Dolley Madison is still available from 2007... is there some hatred of Dolley Madison that I don't know about?
Mike... I know how you feel! Many know that I have the 1/10th oz APE coins from 1997 thru current in both Unc and proof. I missed the 2008 Unc and now have to find it else where...I just did get/order the proof the day of the notice! So indeed I missed the boat on few things! RickieB
