Anyone have any non-modern gold coins from Poland? From my research I haven't been able to find any other than one commemorative made in 1925. I'd love to see some 16-1700s Polish gold. I know it technically didn't exist as a country during the 1800s, but what kind of coins did they use during that time?
There are some gold coins that were issued during the Russian empire. These are quite pricey. For instance here is one that's offered - it's a dual denomination 3 ruble - 20 zlotych issued in 1830s https://www.ebay.com/itm/Russia-Pol...bles-1837-Rare-Coin-C-136-XF-AU-/201657003540 The earlier coins issued in 1810s feature Alexander I of Russia https://www.coinshome.net/en/coin_d...land_(1815_1915)-1TXBwcI0Ke4AAAEsiF3TwxCb.htm
Thank you. I was hoping to find a series that I find attractive to collect. Looking at those coins now I don't think I'm going to be able to find that.
Poland was divided between Austria and Russia so perhaps there's something from Austria that you like better? My own Polish ancestors lived in the Austrian part (Galicia).
Gold coins have been minted in Poland just about as far back as you'd care to go back. Florens, ducats, goldguldens, etc etc. They were no different than any other country in Europe.
Now I just did a very rudimentary search for ya, but if you scroll through the pages found at these links you'll see examples of what I mean. https://www.coinarchives.com/w/results.php?search=Poland+gold&s=0&upcoming=0&results=100 https://www.acsearch.info/search.ht...s=1&thesaurus=1&order=0¤cy=usd&company=
