A while back I found this folded over dime and assumed somebody with a vise and some pliers caused the “taco effect”. For some reason I never tossed it.
Yesterday I was reading an article on error coins and they showed one on a folded over planchette. I’d never seen one before.
I’m positive my original diagnosis was correct BUT YOU NEVER KNOW. So bash me and crash me and slap me around a bit. Kid with pliers or a true oddity? 8AACA9CB-E742-4833-A3D9-4DE215A03E6A.jpeg 1A6C4EED-FE2F-4084-8044-9F5634F0D444.jpeg 9F4ADDFC-2BB5-4EA3-90EC-E726D2892F5E.jpeg 805D2428-3956-465A-AA3C-19155EFB9C61.jpeg 8788224F-3253-44EB-8D4E-3172202F890F.jpeg F4D332DC-F4C1-4C38-B8DE-651349657B34.jpeg F708FEC6-04AC-417A-ABDE-3D14A1C84680.jpeg

Looks like it was bent when it was hot as it's been in a serious fire.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term "double dime."

Whatever happened to that coin, I feel sorry for it.

With the reeded edge all the way around, it had to have been bent after it was struck. I agree with the fire idea.

Yours is DEFDAM - Definitely Damaged.
Not a mint error of any kind.
