Nice! My grandfather had a few halves but I don't know what happened to them. He also had two of the gold dollars they made back in the day. I think it's illegal to own them now. After he passed many of his coins " disapered ". I'm glad I kept the few he gave me and hope to add some cool pieces to them.

Great photos, and posted full image. I like that. Yes, normal coins from worn dies, NAV, or no added value, but good eye for catching these. Welcome to CT BTW.

So even the 68-D with the drool
So even the 68 with the drooling ( Ha!) shirt is normal?

Now that's interesting. I knew the dies on the 1968 cents were old, but did not know they were that old! And the contrast between the portrait on 1968 and earlier cents versus those from 1969 and later is pretty noticeable. I don't even need my glasses on to read the dates in order to separate the older cents in a pile-they stick out like the proverbial sore thumb.

    Fun animation as always.

Ideally, a post office box address is the most secure...for your privacy. The IHCs I have are G4/VG8 condition, and the last time I checked were valued around $2.00. One will be sent to you to keep for free...Spark

Indian Head penny? I’ll be happy to send you one.

I do metal detecting as a hobby and chased IHs for 5 years without ever finding one. There was a lady who was interested in learning about MDing and asked me to visit her. After talking a bit she wanted to see me using the machine. I grabbed one and we headed into her yard. I explained if we were lucky we might find a penny and BAM! I had a penny signal. It was so shallow I could see the outline in the sand. I picked it up and handed it to her.

She looked at it and said, “COOL! 1887!”

‘yep, I’d just found my first Indian Head and had given it away. Since then I’ve found several. Send me your address.

I finally got a 2020 penny in change along with a nice 2009 Formative Years. I was looking at them side by side and noticed the 09 has more details on Mr Lincolns bust. Especially on his facial hair and front of his suit area. Going back thru my album, it looks like this greater detail started in 1991 and ended with the 2009s. Were the dies replaced or strenghtened at these times?

@Whistler's brother ...first, welcome to Coin talk. You will get accurate info here. However, what you have done is hijacked someone else’s thread. No biggie to new members, we’ve all done it, mostly inadvertantly.

But, to get the best response for your question you need to create your own thread. Then, it will be seen by the most experts to be able to answer it...Spark

There were also several issues with the way the copper plating reacted with the zinc for a few years after the zinc cents were introduced in 1982. Bubbles were a problem for the next 7-8 years.
