Beautiful Walker! I agree with PR66 Edit/explanation: it's a gorgeous, shiny Walker; how can you possibly tell MS versus PR? Short answer - without the coin in hand, with only pictures, it can be difficult. However, I think there are a few hints in the photos to help us: The rim - I think - tends to be the biggest give away. Here's an example of a proof coin: And here's a circulation strike: Notice how the proof strike has "square" rims as opposed to more "rounded" for circulation strike. Additionally, I would argue that the luster is different for Walker proofs; there's rarely any cameo, and the strikes generally leave almost scratch/cleaning luster marks - most noticeable on the obverse. Hard to explain; here's a few pictures: I don't think it's concrete, 100% science, but these are the pointers that helped me with my guess of PR66. (Photos courtesy of PCGS CoinFacts)
A lovely coin. If it's a proof, I think it's a PF67 and an early die state at that, before the lappers got to the dies. But I believe I see mint luster, not the mirrors of a proof, so I think it's a MS-67 and probably with a CAC green bean or maybe a MS-68 without the bean.
I don't see a Proof here. It looks frosty to me. I'd go MS-65. The grading on these could all over the place years ago, and this is an old holder with no prongs.
Not surprised. Clearly a proof, and 65-66 made sense, given the eye appeal. The green bean is well-earned.
