Thank you all for my reaching this goal! Just 2 days ago I celebrated my 6 year CT Anniversary. There's a separate thread for that. I purchased this last month along with a lot of other neat items. Mostly coins but a few other things as well. I think these are so neat. I never know they existed until I bought them and I got them for a low price. There are 2 separate coins so that was a surprise. They are from the Put-A-Penny Coin Company out of Rochesyer, NY. The cardboard holder has both USA and Canadian patent numbers. They were advertising pieces. The green holder is for the Muir Drug Stores. These were issued in the early forties. There is also an orange holder, so I'm looking for one of those now. The top coin is dated 1936 and the next one is dated 1937. Both coins are in great shape with the reverses showing a little mint luster in hand. The obverses have some staining. The 1937 almost looks like a little corrosion but that could be caused by the holder.
Congrats @Collecting Nut! Here's a 15,002nd like. Very interesting souvenir cents as well. I believe I have one from Niagara Falls- now to remember where I put it...
15014— why would you want to return it to the store? Was it a sells gimmick? Petty cool man! Alway coining up with neat stuff!!!
Here is something similar from Pearl Harbor 1944 for the March Of Dimes. Has a 1943 Mercury Dime taped to the disk as it is being sent to the President of the USA. This is amazing for a Mercury Dime collector or several other topics.
@Collecting Nut. Congratulations on reaching 15K likes. The aluminum hat you were wearing certainly helped. lol
Some sort of promotional item but I don't think it went over with the public very well. Now I just need to find the orange holder bitbthst was a different company and a different promotion.
It is the only one I have ever seen. I'm guessing that most of them were delivered to President Roosevelt at the White House.
