If you truly believe you have something in spite of the feedback you received from very knowledgeable experts, then your only other option is to send it to one of the top tier grading services and request that it be attributed as an error. You're going to have to pony up the cash, as said in previous post s. No way around it.

You can always search the web for error dealers and contact them directly, but my guess is that they will look at the pics and tell you the same thing as here. Also, once things start opening up, you can attend major coin shows and search out established error dealers. Don't forget, you need to show it to someone knowledgeable about errors. Errors are a niche market, so many dealers have no interest and may not have the knowledge or experience.

Choice is yours, but please either send it in or accept the opinions of experts like Mr. Weinberg.

To be honest, when an error either seems impossible (cent overstruck on a Kennedy half) or extremely unlikely (an uncirculated 1804 silver dollar). If you really think you have something, send it to a TPG (Third Party Grader) such as NGC. We all wish you the best of luck and will welcome your good fortune.

I'm totally confused. (Happens a lot). The OP's page @Coin Addict 2018 states being a male and @Antonio Martin shows up as a female. Which is correct? Are we being trolled? In all this time, disagreeing with so many prominent members on Coin Talk, the OP, under whatever name, has failed to back up his/her claim that the coin is a matte proof. @Antonio Martin, it's time to back up your claim.

Not sure it was ever claimed to be a proof, just an experimental matte finish coin.

Hello! I also have a 1993 D dime with an even dull/matte finish. It is noticeable enough that it immediately caught my eye and caused me to research it in the internet, which led me to this discussion. I am not very knowledgeable about coins and errors. However, I tend to thoroughly examine every coin I come in contact with and have never seen another coin like it. I’m curious as to what you experts think the chances are that we both have this coin with the seemingly identical environmental damage?

    Thank you.

@AKFlame, you might want to start a new thread. This original thread is over two years old. Also, without photos (don't choose the thumbnail option and shoot both sides) you won't get a helpful response...you're likely to get raspberries for asking a question without the photos.

    BTW, welcome to CT!

@AKFlame. Welcome to Coin Talk. As Steve said, you should start a new thread and post clear photos of both sides of the coin. If you're not sure how to start a new thread just ask. Myself or another member will be more than happy to help.
