So what you're saying is that you never sent in the 1909 Lincoln or it came back something other than Matte Proof. No problem, I understand.

Were you treated poorly? Yes. Should that have happened? No. But this is an anonymous forum and you were disagreeing with people that have demonstrated their knowledge and expertise over and over again. And you had nothing to back up your end other than "it looks like a matte proof". Unfortunately, that's what happens. Not only on CT but in business world as well. If you're the new guy and make some extraordinary claims, you better be able to back it up and better have thick skin if you can't.

One final comment. I'm not a big fan of the grammar police and will admit that I make numerous typos on my posts. There is something to be said about the old adage "let those without sin cast the first stone".
However, grammar and spelling provide a quick assessment of potential credibility. You could be Albert Einstein, but if your posts look like they were written by a fourth grader, then that's how you'll be perceived. And once people have that perception, it's difficult to overcome. Just my opinion, but hopefully it will help someone

In defense of the (I just typed "defence" but spell check caught me so I changed it) grammar patrol, they really are right. Obviously I am from Kentucky (surprise) and we are not known for having the most intellectual populace. I have gotten a reasonable education and it does make an impression when people try and use correct grammar and spelling. I have known many people from different countries and my wife is foreign born, so I have gotten into the habit of correcting people but I try and do it in a polite manner. Enough...all I wanted to say is that if you want to make a good impression, strive to use proper grammar and spelling and don't get overly sensitive when someone corrects you.

You are correct. I am not an educated man but have been a successful businessman for 30 years. I write and receive a lot of business correspondence. Only in recent years have I been seeing text lingo actually written in business correspondence. And quite frankly, when I receive letters written that way, I already know I will win the work or contract...... When the content of your written word is all that others have to judge you on, be prepared to be judged accordingly. Right or wrong, it’s just reality.

No i sent that one in a while back, it was pr63. I was not arguing my point but asking questions about why they thought it wasnt a matte proof. i know that cell phone pictures are not the best for deciding a finish or type very well in hand it looked so different. Since then the coin was sold at my shop. It just gets bad to see these experienced collectors (Numismatics) degrade alot of folks on here. there are a few that seem to do it frequently. Now i will say i have seen plenty of folks here be very helpful and kind to newbies and really help them understand what they are thinking for there comment on a certain piece they ask about. THANK GOODNESS for those folks. Thats all im gonna say anymore on the subject of the rudeness in here.

So what not everybody in this forum does, so i guess that gives him the right to degrade others i call B.S.

This site has certainly attracted big names in the numismatic community. I think we as a whole, are a fortunate bunch to have them chime in. It goes to show you just never know who is on the other end of that computer. Why, Eminem graced the site a while back with his presence, in the Bullion section. [ I say that with a huge grin ]

Well i know that it's been a very long time since I commented on this post unfortunately due to the fact that the coin was being rejected by several members of coin talk before I could even post a single photo of what the coin actually looked like to try and determine if it was infact environmental damage of some kind OR actually a REAL MINT ERROR COIN THAT WAS ACCIDENTALLY OR INTENTIONALLY GIVEN A MATTE FINISH BEFORE IT LEFT THE MINT .... Well anyway I decided to crack open the old trusty coin collection again and re-examine the coin more closely with a fresh pair of eyes along with photos of A REAL MATTE FINSHED COIN . AND GUESS WHAT PEOPLE .... TO MY SUPRISE I DISCOVERED THAT BOTH COINS APPEAR TO ACTUALLY HAVE THE SAME EXACT HEAVY FROSTED MATTE FINISH ALL ALONG WHICH TELLS ME THAT THIS COIN COULD POSSIBLY BE [ A ONE OF A KIND ] MINT ERROR DIME WITH A FROSTED MATTE FINISH .... AND SO IM JUST WONDERING WHO ON EARTH WOULD BE THE ABSOLUTELY BEST PERSON TO ALLOW THE COIN TO BE CLOSELY EXAMINED BY AND THAT TAKE HIGH DEFINITION PHOTOS OF THE FINISH ON MY COIN COMPARED TO ANOTHER MATTE FINISH COIN BEFORE ITS SIMPLY LABELED AS ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE WITHOUT EVER BEING EXAMINED AGAIN .... LOL

So I posted both sides of this coin a while back as Mr Fred Wienberg requested so that I could hopefully be told what prevents this 1993 D roosevelt dime from having a MINT ERROR OF A FROSTED MATTE FINISH.... as opposed to being environmental DAMAGE that makes it look HEAVILY FROSTED when compared next to a SHINNY ROOSEVELT DIME LIKE ALL ROOSEVELT DIMES ARE . And so could anyone please tell me if this DIME has a FLAT MATTE FINISH ON BOTH SIDES WHILE ALL OTHER DIMES ARE COMPLETELY SHINNY?

Mr. Weinberg, who responded to your pics early in this thread, is one of the top error experts in the country/world. Major TPGs use him as a consultant when a very rare or unique error needs to be authenticated. You would be hard pressed to find a better person to evaluate your claim.

And NO I THINK Mr Weinberg only requested that I share photos of my coin front and back but when I did so he didn't CLOSELY EXAMINE THE texture or surfaces of my coin or compare with ANY MATTE FINISHED COINS to determine why my coin exhibits such FROSTED details which is why I asking what other real experts is there that could do so ... rather then what I call THE BEST GUESS METHODS

But what did your trusted experts say? Surely you sent the coin in for attribution sometime over the last two years, no?

    It's environmental damage.
Looks nothing like a matte finish.
It's not cool to have more than one user name on this site.
