Here are my two 1909 vdbs. One for my Lincoln Dansco album, and the other for my 70/70 type Dansco album. Both are chalk full of luster. The second one has some rainbow toning that isn't very visible. Grade away!
Wow john! that second 09 is killer! very nice, ill post mine when i get home. its in my album if your imserested in looking now
Nice coins! I'll say AU-58 on the first, and possibly MS-65 on the second? The reverse looks cleaned to me from the pic, but I'd say it is just the pic? Phoenix
That first is AU, but that die scratch on the left wheat is interesting. That second is what coins are supposed to look like. I would not be the least surprised if it made a 66.
Thanks guys. Yes, that is a hair on the first vdb. Feel free all to post your vdbs as well. I purchased the second one on ebay for $25 about six months ago. I mainly bought it for the beautiful toning that isn't nearly as evident in my pictures. In hand, there are a variety of gold/green/blue and some reddish brown throught the coin. I'm partial to toned coins for my type set. I honestly didn't realize that it graded so high; but here was the original pic that shows the actual color more accurately. So, it would probably receive a RB designation? I'm fairly certain its not cleaned as there is strong cartwheel luster on both sides.
I would agree RLM except for the rim nicks on the obverse, theres a few too many IMO. Thats unbelievable Johnny! BEAUTIFUL
Yeah, there are the rim nicks and a few tiny scratches. One by Lincolns nose, and one by the date and one above the N on the reverse under my 30x loupe. However, these aren't visible unless you have the light angled correctly. I would be more than pleased with a 64 grade for what I paid.:hail: Are you going to post yours snaz?
65's, 66's, or even 67's are not necessarily mark free coins. And nothing anywhere says that even an MS70 is mark free with a 30X loupe. When that MS69 1919- Lincoln was posted, we could see nicks on it. Luster, eye appeals and strike are also part (most) of the grade.
good to know. no argument from me. It scores a 70 in the eye appeal department imo. I really can't tell from the pics, it was a shot in the dark. Since you own the coin, what would your guess be?
woah!! If that is a vg, someone used a lot of photoshop in my opinion...lol. Granted, I can't really make out the reverse but the obverse "appears" to have very little wear. Speaking of VG vdbs, however' here is my third and final vdb that I forgot to post. Not nearly as nice as the others, but this one is very special since I found it in circulation. I'm sure it came out of someone's collection(it would be raw planchett like if it had been circulation for 100 years); but it is the highlight of my "circulated" finds.
