I am not really good at grading cents, but I think I would be justified by saying XF45 borderline AU. Phoenix, to me it looks a little rubbed for AU and some of the contact marks are well you can see em..do not get me wrong, for a circulated coin it is wonderful. Even if we do not agree with what it was graded at, some one graded it with a "professional eye" and for what that is worth, well if you liked it then nothing else is important!! Nice coin for a Nice Collector!! :thumb: :thumb: Great pics too... RickieB
Yeah, I can agree to a primo XF-45, chance at an AU. As it is comparable to my 24-S, and that's a real nice 45 as well. Oh well, lol. I still think it's a real nice coin, and it's okay in my set for now. I might try to look for one without dings though, otherwise I wouldn't mind in the least to keep it. I'm still deciding though, lol. Thank you for your help! :thumb: Okay, thanks man! Thanks for your input Rickie, I appreciate it! :thumb: Phoenix
I think there's too much wear on the obv even to be EF 40. But I would never go AU. In fact before I looked at the last pics, I would have gone even lower than 40. :hammer:
The coin is definetly atleast a 45, lol. Keep in mind to take into consideratio both sides, where it is difficult for one side to look almost AU, and the other a VF. And also this coin has a slightly soft strike on the obverse (but still a real nice one for a 26-S). This coin in hand is atleast a 45 IMHO. Thanks for your input! Phoenix
I'm very impressed right now, I hope Jack doesn't mind me saying anything, but he's gotten in touch with me, and has offered to refund me my money on the coin. He is truly one of the best sellers around. :thumb: :thumb: Jack's an honest guy, and stands by his sales. Thought I'd share with you guys! :thumb: Phoenix
Hello Phoenix, From the photos way-up-above, I was assuming that the coin was originally sold in a TPG holder & then removed from the holder by the buyer. Perhaps I made an incorrect assuption. I understand now that the seller is offering a refund so it must not have been broken out of a slab. Possibly I missed something in this thread. Did you buy the coin raw or slabbed? Very best regards, collect89
I bought it slabbed by NGC, as an AU-50. I looked at the coin under magnification, and it had some corrosion starting on it. I thought about it for awhile, so I decided to crack it out. I was right about the corrosion, not only at the spot I saw it, but in many places on the coin. I succesfully removed it all, and put it into an airtite. Then I took pics of the coin raw, and posted them here, lol. It was indeed slabbed, and now it is raw. The seller I bought it from is sad to see I'm disappointed with the coin, so even though it is cracked out, he is offering me a refund. However, I do believe that cracking it out was the best decision, as that corrosion would've eaten away at the coin over time. It didn't yet, as I believe it was just spreading, but it was there, and that was a danger to the coin. That small spot on the 2, and maybe another spot were all I could see while it was in the slab, but once I broke it out, I saw that it was covered. But it is all off of the coin, and the coin is corrosion free, with no damage from the removal, or the corrosion. Jack has offered me a refund for the coin, as it being an XF-45, and I bought it as an AU. Still, him offering the refund says a lot of him IMHO, and that's why I posted about it. Phoenix Phoenix
the only way that coin is AU...actually there is no way. Even a soft strike doesn't have that kind of wear and scratches. Ruben
Your dealer Jack sounds like a real PF69 Ultra Cameo kind of guy. edited Very best regards, collect89
Ahhum ( clears throat ) This is a bad situation for me. For one, the pics are not that great ( no offense Tyler ) I personally bought this coin from another forum member, inspected it and decided it was acceptable for the grade. Deal done. For one, this is a mushy date, and for 2, I have many of these already slabbed in 40 and 45. The coin is a liner, could go either way. Bang me if you wish, but I'll stand by the 50 grade, and when I get the coin back, will post pics. Three: I would never take advantage of a YN, and offered my advise not to crack it in the first place, my usual refund at no questions asked in place. The refund was offered while still slabbed of course. Now my thoughts are, can I absorb some " heat " on these threads and say " cracked equals sold "? Sure. OR, do I help a youngster learn, at my expense ( minimal ) a lesson ? I feel Tyler trusted me. Is a small profit worth credibility? Hxxx no !!! Do we really need to sell a liner to a YN? Nope. Can I get the coin back into a 50 slab? Yep. Is it worth it now? Nope. Would it have sold at a 50 price again ( if slabbed ) ? Yep. Will it sell at a 50 price now raw? Prolly not. Do you sleep better by doing the right thing? You betcha.
1926 S Lincoln NGC MS 64BN Tough Date $1295 http://acoin.com/dave/ just saying I think this coin is not any better than the one here..
I'm relatively new to this computer forum technology but at least now I know who Jack is. I only wish I knew how to view Jack's inventory & maybe buy some of his coins someday. Very best regards, collect89
Check out his site. He has some nice Lincolns that I like to drool over http://02a7097.netsolstores.com/
Appreciate the bump Dan, but I am locked out of my site for tech difficulties, I cannot update or get in the back end due to the domain change, they have screwed up my access and password. Give it a cpl days, we'll figure it out.
I apologize if I have made Jack look like a bad seller, or dealer in any way, by posting the coins I have recieved from him. That in no way was my intent, not in the least. I was honestly just posting them to show you guys my set, and to see all of your opinions on them. I trust Jack fully and completely, and would pay extra for a coin if he said it was worth it (and I had the cash of course). Jack is an outstanding dealer, member, and friend, and should no way be looked upon as a "cheat", or anything of the sorts, if that's how he's been looked at because of the 26-S and 20-S. I attribute what the coins are coming across as to my poor photography skills with coins, which I need to improve in. But when Jack sells you a coin, he stands by it, and is honest all the way through. He has my complete trust when it comes to Lincolns, and he shouldn't be looked at negatively in any way, shape, or form. Phoenix
well, I don't like either coin and that basically outlines why I hate Lincolns. They look worn to me. But if Doug thinks it is an F coin, I'd give that some thought. I don't know why anyone would break it out of the slab if they think they could return it.... Ruben
