So I woke up this morning and decided I need some $500 notes. Any recommendations as to a good reliable source to pick some up at. I asked my bank but they didn't have any.:smile
good luck trying to find one at the bank. you best bet would be coin and currency shows. you also have auction sites such as ebay, heritage and the such. you shouldnt have any problems finding some sweet $500 notes at those 2 places
For what its worth...a $500 note in CHCU will run you 4x face..in Gem up to 6 times face.. AU to 2 times face....Scarcer Banks will cost you more! RickieB
You will most likely never find them at a bank. If they do take them in, they have to pass them onto the Federal Reserve, they technically cannot recirculate them - bank rules, because they are unfamiliar with the currency and it possibly could be counterfeit in their thinking. I know of several coin dealers that buy them from people that initially took the notes to the bank, only to be told by the tellers that they can actually get more than face value for the notes if they take them to a dealer.
Anyone have any recommendations as far as a good trusty seller online? Who will also respect my privacy. I've never really got into buying currency but for some reason I feel like I need to get a few $500 notes and then maybe some $1000's.
I have a tremendous amout of admiration and respect for Professor Kelly. I have also purchased many notes from him in the past and present. While he generally under grades his notes a little it works out to the advantage of the buyer and the Dealer as well. My only personal standard is that when I buy notes at 2K or above, I like for them to be graded. This is a personal thing that has developed overtime, call it experience if you will. I trust Mr. Kelly, do not get me wrong and often have conversations with him about Nationals. I reccomend him highly and just wanted to point that out! Regards, RickieB

two online stores focus on high denoms: http://www.highdenomination.com/index_content.asp http://www.thecurrencyhouse.com/ Those two places will have your biggest selection for high denominations. www.denlys.com has a qute a few listed as well and as someone above me said, Kelly has some too, but I tend to think he overgrades his notes rather then undergrades them, just my humble opinion
