I have a lot of wrong calls with Doubled Die Coins but I’m sure this is. Strange thing I can’t really find much on 2000 p VIRGINIA QUARTERS Doubled Die and other strange thing both obverse and reverse both have doubled die. Look at Jamestown And Virginia letters and in the word God on other side. With my crappy camera these the most noticeable but other parts coin double die as well
I honestly don't know whether it is or isn't - I'm no expert. But there is a possibility that it isnt, so don't be too dissapointed if that's what it is.
Bad pictures but this is exactly the type II Pic from doubledie.com I keep hearing on inside of letter and I see it on inside and outside of letter
But your probaly right!! I will try to get some other pics just s**** and giggles but otherwise I’m not posting anymore “might be a doubled die” without having someone at coin shop verify. My credibility at this point is below zero I’m sure
I say you keep trying, reading up on DD's, looking at photos, all of that will make you smarter as a collector. Stick to it, no DD here but I'm sure you'll make some good finds.
If this is a real doubled die I believe that it would have been discovered and listed in coin books a long time ago. It's hard to tell for sure from the photos. The J in Jamestown is the only letter that looks good so I'm guessing it is MD. I have credit for the discovery of two 2005 quarters from different states. There are lots of folks out there every day trying to find error and varitie coins.
Sorry to say but from your better photos this is clearly MD. It shows on about all the letters . Look at the bottom of the V in Virginia , the mechanical doubling shows on both sides of the V. This would not be possible for a real doubled die for a letter to be doubled on both sides IMO. If you keep looking you can easily find MD coins with a lot wider MD than this one. Keep after it and don't give up and you may get lucky and find some good ones.
