Please guess the grade and use the attached poll (can choose one or two options, the second being if you think it has a plus).
Beautiful toning, but that ought to be “UNC details - scratched” based on the obverse left field. It crosses the threshold in my opinion regardless of the attractive textile toning.
63 here ...to be honest the tone doesnt do it for me. Its ok not a +/- for me. But at one time I had a roll of unc. 1904 o some of the nicest specimens you want to see...and New Orleans mint isnt known for hammered strikes. The marks really kill it.
New Orleans definitely isn't known for great strikes. The luster is at times also lacking on these. But there are some dates with nice color (like 83-O, 84-O, 85-O, and 1904-O).
I was a dealer on ebay...I had no problem selling them raw.. in fact two buyers asked to buy more. 04o has some neat vams too.
People know how hard it is to find a nicely struck 1904-O, so I'm not surprised that the buyers were happy.
Take your first impression, add a point, divide by two, take the square root, multiply by zero, and start all over.
The way these and quite a few more rolls of Morgans, Franklin halfs, and a lot more came to me is a story in its self. Ill share the short version... I met a seller on ebay back in the day. We became friends good friends, she sold all sorts of stuff. Car parts kids clothes.everything. So what happen was After 40 years of marriage her father was called out by his wife that for the last 40 years they been married he has cheated on her with the same woman! So my friends mom said enough....40 years enough and divorced him. This guy not only played the field he collected coins buillon, stamps ,1st ed books He had thousands in stuff. The 3 children decieded that my friend would sell it off. So she did...i got a lot of rolls... now the collection is sold , the dude kept telling his real wife if she left him he die! He passed 3 days after the ink dryed on the paper on the divorse. So the 3 children decieded that they creatmate dad and spread his ashes up on the mountain he hunted.... well the mistress stole his ashes....and my friends youngest son had to crawl though the doggie door to steal grand pa back! At which time they beat tracks up to the mountain...to give dad a colorful man a colorable place to rest. This dude has a hoard of coins....and books....if it was a collectable he knew value.
If i sent it in, that scratch in front of liberty's face would get it a details grade, but maybe the submitter got luck. I'm gonna guess unc details, scratched anyway.
