I fully get the business and marketing side of it, I do hope you at least got a reasonable amount for that cost. That said 99.9 percent of companies don't have Clorox wipes there and most don't have hand sanitizer or anything else and it isn't changing their numbers. A smaller more specialized business yes for sure it could. For the coin show to ask that was just absurd. Even medically it makes almost no sense for a customer to judge if they have wipes on their table. The infection almost always comes from the talking and like many have done they could just put any wipes into another brands bottle
I agree that it doesn’t make sense. But perception is reality and a lot of people won’t believe things are clean unless they see cleaning supplies. Yes. I paid like $110 and got 4 40oz bottles.
For sure it is I guess my wish anyways would be more than people just need to be smarter about everything and not just assume something from seeing something there. More or less just because we see a bottle of wipes doesn't mean they were used or something is cleaned and we just don't need to be getting into the place of wipes have to be shown to be open type thing
It’s all about appearance. Sort of like marketing- persuading somebody that it’s safe to shop at a given place. People have got the hand washing/hand wiping routine jammed into their heads (which is normal), but with so many people overreacting and hoarding stuff, supplies of those products have diminished- therefore rendering them convenient for price gouging.
Does driving to the filling station defeat the purpose of getting gas? On the other hand, if you do have Clorox wipes at the show, they'll probably be more of a hot seller than gold or silver.
The more I deal with the public...the more I realize that as a group...they are dumber and more prone to sheep behavior than I ever realized. Like you, I wish that wasn’t the case.
My local coin show promoter is also making preparations to reopen late next month. I will likely be there as a customer but will be very cautious and I really hope they are taking significant precautions to minimize the risks to dealers and customers. If I see it is anything like business like usual I am going to make a U-turn right out the door. The hall the show is held in is rather cramped and I don't see how 6 foot distancing is going to be possible with 30 vendors and 100+ customers/attendees. I have Asthma and wearing a mask isn't fun but it is something that is NEEDED right now and I wear one when in close proximity of others. If you don't want to wear a mask or follow proper social distancing protocol then I respectfully ask you not to go out and endanger others.
The thing with shows is its not possible at all. If people want to go and they want to be open I've seen enough dumb stuff with how we are "locked down" with stores by all means do it. However people complain all day long about ebay pictures and so on, there's no chance coin sales are happening 6 feet away unless its just bullion maybe. If people want to do it by all means we need more balance, but people should also be aware that these shows are gonna basically be the same with hand sanitizer and make a shield on the table for dealers. Basically no one is gonna be like can I see that coin from 6 feet away please, its just not practical
You do know that asthma puts you at an even higher risk for serious illness or death if you catch this, right?
Stupid is as stupid does. You wear a mask not to protect YOURSELF, but so that you - silently, asymptotically infected - limit the spread to others. The person you protect might be your partner or your best customer...
Who are you to talk about a "narrative"? What I shared was a thought I had concerning the matter. You're the most opinionated person on this board, and you talk about "narrative"? And when did I say any of what you just commented? You set up a straw man, now taking it apart. I've had enough of your bias, and predisposition towards politics- you're the only member I've seen who has to bring this into everything.
Well, the show was today. They were limiting the number of people in the hall to 150. The highest it actually got was 146. Business was brisk. For me, I only made a few sales but they were large ones which is the exact opposite of my usual. Usually, I make money based on a lot of small sales. A lot more dealers and customers travelled in from a distance than was normal as well. The dealers that were selling bullion pretty much sold out of whatever they had. It seemed like most of the dealers at least started the day with a mask on. As the day went on they seemed to relax but the crows dwindled as the day went on. I asked anyone that wanted to sit at my table to wear a mask and I had them free of charge for those that wanted one. I also had hand sanitizer available although I was the only one using it.
Good to hear of another show. I live far from Indiana, otherwise I would enjoy attending. I have one much closer to home next month, and plan on attending that.
