We have 10 opinions. I’ll post the reveal in about an hour.

I'm torn. The 1897-O is one of the more notorious years for the weak strikes associated with the New Orleans Mint Morgans.

I'm going to go with AU58, but a MS grade certainly would not surprise me!

Late to the party. I see NGC went 58. I was going to say 61. Looked low grade MS to me.

Hi all. I don’t usually post on the US Coins forum coz I hardly have any US coins of note.

Was going through some old stuff I had bought and put aside and found this. Is it worth hanging on to or should I try to find it a new home?

Sorry for crashing in on this thread but I didn’t think this justified a new thread.

You likely will get more replies with a new thread.

If circulated Morgans aren't your thing (and there is no attachment to the coin), then I'd say there is little point in holding onto it.

@1934 Wreath Crown 4 million minted. Would be worth over $1000 in uncirculated. In rough VF like that... maybe 30-40 bucks?

It's considered common but you would get more responses with a new thread. I'd tuck it away and keep it. It's in nice shape they don't make them any more.

That seems about right as it's the price range I'm seeing in sold eBay auctions.
It's not super valuable but I also don't see it going up much from those levels in the near future. So if it can be converted into funds for something one wants more, then selling is the best option.
